DonSeTch: Free Web Research Tool for AI Agents
DonSeTch is a $0, open-source web research tool for AI agents, built from scratch in Rust. No API keys, no accounts, no billing — you get complete fetch, search and crawl in one 36 MB binary.
🟢 Three tools: web_search (merges 10+ keyless engines), web_fetch (clean markdown, bot-wall bypass, PDF/OCR), and web_crawl (full-site extraction).
🟢 Install: requires only Node.js. Run npm install -g donsetch, then start it as an MCP server with donsetch mcp. Source at github.com/dondai44423/donsetch. AGPL-3.0.
🟢 Works everywhere: any agent that speaks MCP — Claude Code, Cursor, OpenCode, Windsurf, Pi, Hermes.
🟢 Real Chrome TLS: uses Chrome's own BoringSSL, so its requests look like a genuine browser and evade anti-bot detection. Bypasses bot walls, then sleeps — the fast HTTP layer does the heavy lifting.
🟢 Token savings: probe mode (must_contain) verifies claims for ~60 tokens instead of reading a full page; page memory and since_last turn re-checks into one-line verdicts.
🟢 Keyless search: 10+ free search backends fused by cross-engine consensus, so no paid API is needed.
🔴 Limits: does not solve interactive CAPTCHAs, does not handle login-required sites, and crawl honours robots.txt. Heavy unchecked keyless search may hit rate limits — set DONSEEK_PROXIES for intensive use.
