Managing Google Ads accounts involves a lot of repetitive work — checking performance, adjusting budgets, pausing keywords, reviewing search terms — which usually means endless clicks inside the Google Ads UI.
So we built a tool that eliminates that friction and released it as open source: google-ads-campaign-mcp, an MCP server that connects AI assistants directly to the Google Ads API.
What it does
The server exposes 14 tools covering the full campaign lifecycle:
🟢 Accounts: list all accounts under your MCC with currency and timezone
🟢 Campaigns: list campaigns, pull 30-day stats (impressions, clicks, cost, conversions), pause/enable, update daily budget, create a Search campaign
🟢 Keywords: list with quality score and metrics, add in batches, pause, remove, adjust max CPC bids
🟢 Reporting & research: real search-term data to spot wasted spend, Keyword Planner ideas, ad-group listing
Why we built it
Two reasons:
- Speed: a budget change that took minutes in the UI now happens in one AI request, with a read-back verification
- Transparency: every change is an explicit, reviewable request — no black box
Why open source
MIT license means any agency or business can use it freely, even commercially. Open source keeps us honest and lets the community add tools and fixes. An auditable tool lets you inspect exactly what it does.
Try it
pipx install .
Set GOOGLE_ADS_DEVELOPER_TOKEN, GOOGLE_ADS_CLIENT_ID, GOOGLE_ADS_CLIENT_SECRET, GOOGLE_ADS_REFRESH_TOKEN — then register the server in any MCP client.
Full docs, installation guide, and usage examples are on GitHub.
